Program Director – New Market

February 20, 2012

We have recently taken over 2 FM and 1 AM station in a new market (for our company). In addition to Washington, Knoxville, & Pella, Iowa we are now operating stations in the Perry, Jefferson, & Stuart markets.

Currently these stations are understaffed and we need good leadership going in to help build a staff to deliver the kind of full service local radio, that our other markets have a history of producing.

As program director, your roll is to build a staff… plan, direct, and monitor that staff to hit and exceed our desired levels of content and community connection. You’ll have an on-air shift (most likely mornings) and will produce local commercials, assign other production responsibilities to staff, attend station events and do remote broadcasts, maintain station on-air image, and all of the other duties that come with producing local full service radio.

While most stations are reducing staff size and replacing on-air announcers with automation and out of market voice tracking… we have been going the opposite direction in our company for many years. We have doubled the size of our staff in the last 10 years (all prior to acquiring this new market)… and will continue to do the same in this and future markets. Full service radio is a full time job, and it takes a lot of quality people that are passionate about radio.

You need to have previous on-air experience (in commercial radio), knowledge of automation software (we are currently looking at upgrading the current system), extensive computer knowledge and literacy in editing audio and file management, lead the staff in updating company website with news and other local information, help create and maintain our social media presence, and be a team player that is ready to lead by example.

We are looking for someone to come in and learn our systems and implement them throughout the station group… we will build slow and maintain a steady growth path for on-air / content personnel to match our growing sales department.

We offer competitive benefits with retirement and insurance.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
